Morning Sickness: Just inhaling the aroma of DigestZen will help alleviate morning sickness or the bloated feeling that often comes with pregnancy. —Stephanie Fritz LM, CPM, Arizona, USA Ginger, and if you want peppermint as well. I read on one website out of three that said avoid peppermint while pregnant. But I did use it for car sickness before I knew I was pregnant and it worked wonders for me with no side effects. —Rachel, Oregon, USA
Stretch Marks: Lavender diluted with fractionated coconut oil. —Stephanie Fritz, LM, CPM, Arizona, USA Tangerine works amazing! I have not even used .5 oz and mine are mainly gone...from dark purple! —Rachel, Oregon, USA
Massage (Mother and Newborn): When I was pregnant, I would get charley horses in my calves so my husband would massage my calf during or after one with Serenity and it helped to relieve the pain and relax the muscles in my calves. —Glenda, Michigan, USA
Labor and Delivery: Balance to help through any fear that might be holding up birth. Clary Sage to help make stronger contractions. —Stephanie Fritz, LM, CPM, Arizona, USA Clary sage is helpful for contractions and period cramps as well. But avoid until in labor! —Rachel, Oregon, USA
Infant/Child Care: Lemon works miracles for diarrhea. I put two drops in my child's mouth and her next BM was not runny. I use the lavender in their bath at bedtime or when they [are] sick. I use tea tree and oregano for infections—viral or bacterial. Lavender works miracles for wounds, burns, or bruises. Peppermint helps with gas and constipation, just rubbed on their tummy. All the oils I dilute for the kids/babies except for the lemon in their mouth, but you could dilute with coconut oil. —Rachel, Oregon, USA When my son was about three months old, he caught a cold and was very congested. So I used lavender and peppermint on the bottom of his feet diluted with fractionated coconut oil and applied it on his pajamas to help with fever and body ache—and to help him rest well. I diffused Citrus Bliss as well and it worked great for his congestion and his mood—he was not irritable or fussy. —Glenda, Michigan, USA Lavender on feet. Helped with inducing sound sleep. —Janet, Victoria, Australia
Father: My husband's favorite is peppermint for headaches—wintergreen works the same. Rub on temples, forehead, or back of neck depending on where the headache is. —Rachel, Oregon, USA
Other: Myrrh on cord site, it acts as a liquid band-aid, and helps cord dry quick. My clients' cords usually fall off within 3 days. I use frankincense on crown and spine and Balance on baby's feet all within the first hour of birth. Basil to help increase breast milk. —Stephanie Fritz, LM, CPM, Arizona, USA [When] I experienced trouble acid reflux and heartburn, it almost felt like I was having a heart attack. So I used peppermint or lemon, just one drop in my water and it...[helped] with the burning feeling and the bloating too. —Glenda, Michigan, USA The oil I love and started using after my first child was tangerine. It helps with the stretch marks. I have tan skin and ended up with dark purple stretch marks that have faded to almost nothing. I just put some in my lotion and shake/stir it up. Now that I am pregnant again, I put a few drops of the tangerine in my baths with Epsom salt or milk to help it mix w/ water. I also use lavender in my bath to help relax and...soothe my sore back and hips. Ginger is great for morning sickness/nausea. I put it on my wrists or bottoms of my feet. I use all the oils diluted with oil or mixed in the bath water. —Rachel, Oregon, USA
